PZ Cussons hires former Sainsbury chair David Tyler to be new chair

PZ Cussons PLC on Thursday said it hired David Tyler, the former chair at J Sainsbury PLC, has been named as a non-executive director from today.

The Manchester-based manufacturer of personal care brands such as Imperial Leather said Tyler is expected to be appointed as chair of the board, as Caroline Silver’s term at the consumer goods business expires at the end of March next year.

Tyler currently serves as chair of insurance company Domestic & General Group Ltd, and has been chair of J Sainsbury PLC, real estate investment trust Hammerson PLC, and management consulting company Logica PLC.

He is a former Unilever executive, a FTSE-100 consumer goods company, where he worked for eleven years. More recently, he was a non-executive director on the board of Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC, a consumer goods company.

Outgoing Chair Silver said: ‘I am delighted to welcome David to the board of PZ Cussons plc. With his wealth of experience gained through both executive and non-executive roles at globally-admired companies, I am confident that I will be leaving PZ Cussons in very safe hands when my current term as chair ends.’

PZ Cussons shares were flat 212.50 pence each on Thursday morning in London.
