CORRECT: Softcat hires ASOS CFO Katy Mecklenburgh, to join by mid-June

ALN

(Clarifying that Mecklenburgh will become CFO on August 1.)

Softcat PLC on Friday announced that it has appointed current Asos PLC interim chief financial officer Katy Mecklenburgh as its new CFO from August 1 next year.

Mecklenburgh, who has held roles at various companies including Asos, Amazon.com Inc, and Serco PLC, will join the Softcat board no later than mid-June, the company said, before taking over as CFO.

The Marlow, England-based IT infrastructure provider said that the outgoing CFO Graham Charlton will become chief executive officer designate when Mecklenburgh joins the board, and become CEO of the company on August 1.

Non-Executive Chair Martin Hellawell said Mecklenburgh ‘will make a hugely valuable addition to our board and senior leadership team and her appointment allows us to deliver on our stated goal of ensuring the continued, effective and long-term leadership of our company.’

Mecklenburgh’s ‘background, experience and affinity with our culture and workforce set her apart from other candidates,’ he said.

Asos said that Mecklenburgh will continue as interim CFO for the next six months, as the company’s process of appointing a new CFO continues after the Mat Dunn stepped down from the role on October 31.

Softcat shares were 1.3% higher trading at 1,323.00 pence apiece, while Asos shares were down 0.4% at 641.04p each on Friday morning in London.
