Games Workshop Group PLC on Wednesday said trading since September has been in line with expectations, expecting a half-year profit fall amid revenue growth.
The Nottingham-based wargames maker also announced the promotion of John Brewis to non-executive chair. Brewis has been senior independent director since 2021, and his new role becomes effective on January 1, replacing outgoing chair Elaine O’Donnell, who served in post for two years.
For its first half ended November 27, Games Workshop expects revenue of no less than £210 million, up 9.7% from £191.5 million a year before. Pretax profit is estimated at no less than £83 million, down 5.9% from £88.2 million a year prior.
The company said it expects core operating profit to be flat in the first half, coming in at least £70 million, but licensing revenue is expected to be down by a third. It explained that the comparison figure was increase by significant deals last year.
Games Workshop said it will pay out £1,500 cash to each of its employees this month, as part of its profit share scheme.
Games Workshop shares were down 1.0% to 7,305.00 pence each on Wednesday morning in London.
