Journeo awarded contract to supply ScotRail with Portal software

ALN

Journeo PLC on Monday awarded a contract with Network Rail for ScotRail, to provide advanced Journeo Portal software.

The Leicestershire, England-based transport system services provider said the contract, worth £1.2 million, would include set-up and commissioning services, and two years of software licencing.

This is the company’s first major software-led contract for its ‘in house developed intellectual property and provides an opportunity for further licencing contracts in the UK and internationally,’ Journeo said.

The Journeo Portal is an intelligent cloud-based platform that operates across different modes of transport.

The contract will see over 400 ScotRail trains added to the Journeo Portal’s SaaS connections, which have increased from 4,000 to 10,000 vehicles in 2022. Once the contract is completed, 95% of the ScotRail fleet will be connect to the Journeo Portal, with the remained set to be taken out of service.

The company said the contract includes the supply of new software known as track incursion monitoring, which ‘scans and detects objects in front and around the kinematic envelope of the train’, including foliage creep and track obstruction using camera equipment.

Chief Executive Officer Russ Singleton said: ‘Developing and licencing software is a strategic objective of Journeo which is complementary to the historic hardware-based installations undertaken. This bonds Journeo even more closely with its growing list of customers, whilst delivering substantially higher returns for our shareholders.’

Journeo shares were up 13% at 121.30 pence per share on Monday afternoon in London.
