Synergia Energy seeks solution as gas concentrate slows production

ALN

Synergia Energy Ltd on Wednesday said its Cambay C-77H well in India has been on continuous plateau gas production since the re-installation of the production tubing in September, but is facing inhibited production due to condensate in the wellbore.

Synergia shares were down 15% trading at 0.09 pence per share on Wednesday afternoon in London.

The Perth, Australia-based developer of natural gas assets in India, Indonesia and the UK, formerly called Oilex Ltd said production has been between 150,000 standard cubic feet per day and 275,000 SCFD, depending on the amount of fluid loading in the wellbore.

The company said well production is currently about 200,000 SCFD, with production being slowed by a 1500 metre column of gas condensate in the wellbore. Synergia said it has adopted a progressive cavity pump solution in order to remove the condensate.

The company noted that the concentrate in the well has a high aromatic content which is not compatible with standard nitrile rubber stators of conventional PCP pumps, adding that further testing is needed to discover whether alternative Viton-lined stators will tolerate the 40% aromatic content of the Cambay condensate.

The company said the use of an all-metal PCP would solve the condensate issue, but comes at a significantly higher cost.
