Live Co says Formula E race sells 15,000 tickets, signs some sponsors

ALN

Live Co Group PLC on Friday said it has sold 15,000 tickets for the 2023 Cape Town E-Prix event in South Africa.

This is alongside securing sponsorship agreements with seven companies.

Shares in Live Co jumped 6.0% to 2.60 pence each in London on Friday morning.

The Surrey, England-based live events, entertainment and sports events company said around 70% of a potential total of 21,000 tickets have been sold, expecting a sell-out for the Formula E race on February 25.

Formula E is a motorsport championship for electric cars, featuring 11 teams. The event in Cape Town will be show on Channel 4 in the UK, Live Co said, alongside ‘world-wide’ media coverage.

Corporate hospitality has now been sold out with 3400 VIP guests, with Live Co set to host a 30-person suite in the track side lounge.

Live Co previously said no title sponsorship was obtained, but on Friday said smaller agreements were reached with the City of Cape Town, Western Cape Government, South African Tourism, Nissan, Uber, E-tv and Nedbank.

On Thursday, Live Co said it organised a stopover in Cape Town, South Africa ahead of arriving boats for the Ocean Race.

It said the second leg of the Ocean Race will see leading boats arrive on Monday next week at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront until departure for the third leg on February 26, when boats set off for Itajai, Brazil.
