AFC Energy signs deal with Acciona for hydrogen powered generator

ALN

AFC Energy PLC on Wednesday said Acciona has ordered its first 50,000 volt-amps H-Power Generator for delivery in Spain in the second half of 2023.

AFC Energy is a Surrey, England-based provider of hydrogen power generation technologies, while Acciona is a Spanish multinational dedicated to the development and management of infrastructure and renewable energy.

The H-Power ‘S’ Series 50,000 volt-amps hydrogen powered generator is designed for heavy duty construction and the temporary power market.

Under the terms of the agreement, Acciona will rent the system for a period of six months, with an option to purchase or extend. The generator will comprise a 30 kilowatt AFC Energy air cooled fuel cell, and a 45 kilowatt hour battery storage system.

‘ACCIONA is a key relationship for AFC Energy and has provided support to us in defining the ’voice of the customer‘ in a way that has informed the design specification and operation of our new 50kVA H-Power S Series emissions-free genset. Decarbonisation of the construction industry, in the UK, Europe and internationally is an important step in society’s move towards Net Zero. This development highlights the importance that leadership from companies like ACCIONA, acting in partnership with AFC Energy, play in driving long term sustainable change across this industry,’ said Chief Executive Officer Adam Bond.

AFC Energy shares were trading 0.2% higher at 19.44 pence each in London on Wednesday afternoon.
