Empire Metals says exploration licence granted for Walton project

ALN

Empire Metals Ltd on Wednesday said an exploration licence for the Walton copper-gold-lithium project in Western Australia has been granted.

The London-based minerals explorer and developer, which has projects in Australia and Austria, expects to mobilise its exploration team in June or July to begin surface soils sampling and geological mapping, with the aim of finding drill targets.

Empire Metals holds a 70% interest in the Walton project as of April of last year.

The project is located in the Yerilgee greenstone belt, where other volcanic-hosted massive sulphide systems operate. Exploration at Walton will take place at the same time as its Pitfield copper project once it completes its maiden reverse circulation drilling programme.

Managing Director Shaun Bunn said: ‘I am pleased to announce that the exploration licence for Walton has been granted and that we can commence reconnaissance work on the ground to help confirm the prospectivity of this region for gold, base metal and lithium discoveries.’

Shares in Empire Metals were down 1.1% at 2.20 pence each in London on Wednesday afternoon.
