TOP NEWS: Flutter names former Kellogg chief John Bryant as new chair

ALN

Sky Bet and Paddy Power owner Flutter Entertainment PLC on Thursday named former breakfast cereal executive John Bryant as its next non-executive chair.

Bryant’s appointment as director and chair-designate will take effect following Flutter’s annual general meeting on Thursday, and he will assume the role of chair from September 1.

The FTSE 100-listed Irish gambling operator said the appointment aligns with its succession plan, as well as good governance practice, with outgoing Chair Gary McGann stepping down on reaching his nine-year tenure as non-executive director.

Bryant is currently a non-executive director of jar maker Ball Corp, caterer Compass Group PLC and bottler Coca-Cola Europacific Partners PLC. He is also a non-executive director of retailer Macy’s Inc, with his tenure there ending on May 19.

Bryant was previously executive chair, and before that chief executive, chief financial officer, and chief operating officer of food maker Kellogg Co.

The move comes amid Flutter’s plans for an additional US listing. The resolution for the listing requires the approval of 75% of votes cast by Flutter shareholders, which will be decided at its annual general meeting later this month.

If approved, Flutter said it will aim to implement the additional US listing during the final quarter of 2023.

Besides being listed on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange, Flutter already is traded on the New York-based over-the-counter market.

News that Flutter was setting the stage to appoint Bryant as its new chair first came from Sky News earlier this month.

Chief Executive Officer Peter Jackson said: ‘I am very much looking forward to working with John. His experience will be invaluable as Flutter continues to execute its growth strategy.’
