Active Energy wins trademark for registration of CoalSwitch in EU

ALN

Active Energy Group PLC said it has received a trademark for the registration of CoalSwitch in the EU.

Active Energy is a London-headquartered biomass-focused renewable energy company.

Its flagship product is coal replacement fuel CoalSwitch, which uses waste from lumber operations to create energy-efficient biomass. Active Energy said it has been shown to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 99% compared to coal and up to 97% compared to natural gas.

The EU Intellectual Property Office has issued Trademark Registration number 018826869 for CoalSwitch.

Active Energy said the trademark is an important step for the company, as it continues to grow its intellectual property portfolio through the continued development of its CoalSwitch technology.

In February, Active Energy said it had been awarded two trademarks for the registration of CoalSwitch in the US and UK.

Chief Executive Officer Michael Rowan said: ‘The award of this trademark is another great step for AEG and the development of CoalSwitch. We now have trademarks in the US, UK and EU and we continue to focus on protecting and growing our intellectual property portfolio as we deliver on our strategy of producing a next generation biomass pellet.’

Shares in Active Energy were down 1.4% to 6.76 pence each in London on Wednesday morning.
