DX invests further £3 million into electric van fleet for Ikea

ALN

DX Group PLC on Wednesday said it has invested a further £3 million into new electric vehicles for its delivery and logistics partnership with home furnishings retailer Ikea.

The Slough, England-based provider of delivery solutions, including parcel freight, secure courier and logistics services said the second round of funding in electric vehicles for its contract with Ikea will add 53 new electric vans to the existing fleet.

The new Maxus e-Deliver 9 vehicles will be operating from DX/Ikea depots in Heathrow, Milton Keynes, Reading, Sheffield, Southampton and Willenhall.

Back in August, DX invested £750,000 to establish an initial fleet of over 60 electric vehicles for Ikea’s home-delivery service.

DX Logistics Managing Director Ian Bolt said: ‘We share Ikea’s goal to move to more environmentally-friendly business practices, including the use of electric vehicles for deliveries, and are delighted that, with this investment, we will further reduce carbon emissions while maintaining the highest possible service standards.’

Shares in DX were up 3.5% at 30.80 pence each in London on Wednesday afternoon.
