Mincon promotes Tom Purcell to operating chief with immediate effect

ALN

Mincon Group PLC on Tuesday said it has appointed long-serving director Tom Purcell as chief operations officer with immediate effect.

The Shannon, Ireland-based rock drilling tool manufacturer said Purcell will be responsible for overseeing the company’s daily operations, focusing on its global business of ‘manufacturing, sales, marketing and service’.

Purcell has worked at Mincon for 24 years in various roles. He was already an executive director on the board and most recently served as vice president of the Americas region, where he has been ‘instrumental in leading the significant growth of the group’s business in the region in recent years’, Mincon said.

Mincon said under Purcell’s leadership, the Americas region has grown its manufacturing, sales and service footprint while ‘building a strong cohesive team’ focused on broadening Mincon’s business in the mining, construction and water well markets.

‘Tom has made a significant contribution to the group in his time here,’ said Chair Hugh McCullough. ‘His appointment as COO will provide further leadership and augment the ability of our operations function to continue to drive the success of the group.’

Chief Executive Joe Purcell added: ‘I believe [Tom’s appointment] will strengthen our management team and help to improve our focus on the day-to-day running of the business. This appointment will also ensure that the management of the group is better resourced to capitalise on the exciting opportunities that we are developing through our ambitious product development programs.’

Shares in Mincon were down 0.3% to 90.75 pence each in London on Tuesday morning.
