Creo Medical says NHS hospital uptake for service ‘fastest time’ ever

ALN

Creo Medical Group PLC on Wednesday said the Royal Oldham hospital in Greater Manchester has now treated over 40 patients with two of Creo Medical’s technologies.

The Chepstow, Wales-based medical device company focused on surgical endoscopy said this represented the fastest time for any NHS hospital to reach the landmark.

This was after Creo Medical announced in mid-May that Royal Oldham became the first NHS hospital to immediately implement Croma and Speedboat Inject across multiple endoscopy rooms, putting in place weekly lists for multiple speedboat submucosal dissection cases.

Creo Medical said it has a target base for the Speedboat range of products of more than 350 NHS hospital, with each SSD procedure ‘demonstrated to save the NHS up to £10,000’ when compared to traditional surgery. This is alongside ‘typically far shorter hospital stay and significantly lower risk of complications’, the company said.

There are 23 NHS England healthcare settings that have now adopted SSD, Creo Medical added.

‘Oldham provides a phenomenal model for what’s possible when a hospital immediately recognises the potential of the device and implements the right pathways and resource to maximise its impact,’ said Creo Medical Chief Executive Officer Craig Gulliford.

‘To hear plans for the further expansion of the service is also excellent news and we look forward to supporting the hospital in every way we can.’

Shares in Creo Medical were up 4.3% to 34.69 pence each in London on Wednesday at midday.
