XLMedia extends reach in North Carolina with content deal for WRAL.com

ALN

XLMedia PLC on Tuesday said it has signed a new media partnership agreement with Capitol Broadcasting Company Inc, the the owner of WRAL.com and wralsportsfan.com.

The London-based digital media company has agreed with WRAL.com to be its exclusive provider of sports betting content.

WRAL-TV is a television station licensed to North Carolina in the US, which serves as the NBC affiliate for the Research Triangle area. It is the flagship station of the locally-based Capitol Broadcasting Company, which has owned WRAL since its inception.

As XLMedia highlighted to investors, the partnership stands to deepen its reach in North Carolina ahead of the state’s online betting launch in 2024.

‘We are very pleased to be able to build upon our MPB success by adding another prominent publisher in a key state with strong presence for both professional and college sports. This is an important revenue opportunity for both businesses,’ said Chief Executive Officer David King.

‘In line with our stated strategy, this agreement furthers our efforts to expand our North America footprint in select markets to capitalise on the US’ growing sports betting market.’

XLMedia shares were trading 2.0% lower at 11.51 pence each in London on Tuesday morning.
