PRESS: Outgoing BT boss Jansen approached about being next WPP chair

ALN

WPP PLC has approached outgoing BT Group PLC chief Philip Jansen about becoming the advertising firm’s next chair, Sky News reported on Monday.

Jansen is one of a number of candidates WPP is considering. The firm is currently chaired by Roberto Quarta, who has been in the role since June 2015.

Sky News reported that WPP’s search for its next chair has not yet reached an advanced stage. Sky News noted WPP is expected to pick a chair outside of its existing board members.

In July, BT named Allison Kirkby as its new chief executive.

She will take over from outgoing CEO Jansen around the end of January 2024 at the latest. Jansen will be available to support the handover until the end of March, when BT’s financial year 2024 ends.

BT shares were 0.7% higher at 124.41 pence each in London on Tuesday morning. WPP shares traded 0.1% higher at 753.60p.
