Character Group PLC - Surrey, England-based toy, games and gifts maker - In the first four months of its current financial year, says turnover is flat from a ear earlier, although it has seen an ‘improvement in profitability’. Notes trading conditions across all of its markets have ‘remained challenging’, with the cost-of-living crisis ‘impacting consumer spend/demand for the second successive Christmas’. Says it has a ‘strong portfolio of products to offer the market, a robust balance sheet, with a net cash position and substantial unutilised working capital facilities in place’. Says it continues to trade ‘satisfactorily’ and expects profitability for the current financial year ending August 31 to be in line with current market expectations. Also confirms Richard King retires as chair following today’s annual general meeting, as announced in December.
