Zotefoams joins UK independent plastic recycling authority Recoup

ALN

Zotefoams PLC on Wednesday said it has joined Recoup, the UK’s ‘leading’ independent authority on plastics resource efficiency and recycling.

The Croydon-based cellular material technology firm explained that Recoup is a network of over 180 organisations, whose members are ‘committed to advancing the circularity of the plastics value chain by developing the sustainable use of plastics, increasing plastics recycling, and improving the environmental performance of materials.’

Zotefoams said it prioritises ‘key markets where there is the greatest opportunity to improve circularity or reduce reliance on fossil fuel-derived raw materials and innovates within this space.’ It said this matches the commitments of Recoup and its membership base.

‘We’re delighted to have joined the Recoup membership base so that we can collaborate with fellow members and support the sustainable use of plastics,’ said Zotefoams Chief Executive Officer David Stirling.

Zotefoams highlighted its ReZorce Circular Packaging product, which is the subject of a joint development agreement with an unnamed ‘major global player in beverage packaging’. This is alongside trials planned for early 2024 with an also unnamed ‘major European retailer’ to replace liquid packaging board for juice cartons.

‘ReZorce provides a solution which is recyclable via standard recycling streams and has a significantly lower environmental impact, with a patented multi-layer structure which enables recycled plastic to be incorporated within its core,’ the company said.

Shares in Zotefoams were down 2.4% to 367.99 pence each in London on Wednesday afternoon.
