Cohort subsidiary strikes 10-year deal with UK Ministry of Defence

ALN

Cohort PLC on Tuesday said that its subsidiary, Systems Engineering & Assessment Ltd, has landed a contract from the UK’s Ministry of Defence.

The Reading, England-based medical products and technology company said SEA will provide electronic warfare countermeasures to the Royal Navy, through the provision of SEA’s trainable decoy launcher system, known as Ancilia, which also incorporates technology and hardware from Cohort’s business Chess Dynamics Ltd.

Ancilia provides protection against modern anti-ship threats.

The total value of the contract to SEA is worth at least £135 million, Cohort said.

Work will commence immediately and is expected to continue for more than ten years.

Cohort Chief Executive Officer commented: ‘This is a significant win for SEA and the group, and the project will deliver greatly enhanced protection for the Royal Navy’s surface ships against new and potent threat technologies.

‘It represents a real vote of confidence in Ancilia, a fully UK designed and built solution, for which we see encouraging export prospects.’

Shares in Cohort rose 7.9% to 641.09 pence each on Tuesday afternoon in London.
