Zotefoams partner with Design Blue to create lightweight body armour

ALN

Zotefoams PLC on Friday announced it had entered into an exclusivity agreement with Design Blue Ltd for the launch of a new protective foam material.

The cellular materials company partnered with Design Blue, the design and technology company, to develop a new material, intended for high-performance impact protection solutions for the defence and law enforcement sectors.

Design Blue manufactures products under the D3O and Delta Three Oscar brand, producing impact-protective solutions across a huge range of industries for clients such as the US Department of Defence, Formula 1, NASCAR, Harley-Davidson, Fox and Adidas.

Zytefoam’s lightweight, high-performance foam ZOTEK NC will be incorporated into D3O’s body armour and ballistic helmet liner systems, offering high-impact protection at very light weight.

Zotefoams Chief Executive Officer David Stirling said: ‘We are delighted to announce our partnership with Design Blue, who will harness the exceptional performance benefits of Zotefoams’ high-performance material to revolutionise personal protection for those working in defence and law enforcement. This partnership perfectly aligns with our purpose of creating optimal material solutions for the benefit of society.’

Design Blue Chief Executive Officer Stuart Sawyer said: ‘This partnership enables D3O to take another step towards our vision of saving lives. By combining D3O’s strengths of protecting people, with Zotefoams’ unique technology, we are introducing a new era of ultra-lightweight, environment-stable ballistic protection that will re-define the industry standard of protection.’

Zotefoams shares were up 4.1% to 385.29 pence each in London on Friday morning.
