Domino’s Pizza Group PLC on Wednesday said it appointed Mitesh Patel as an independent non-executive director with effect from June 1. Milton Keynes, England-based Domino’s Pizza Group is the master franchise holder in the UK and Ireland for US pizza delivery brand owner Domino’s Pizza Inc. Domino’s Pizza Group said Patel has ‘highly relevant’ non-executive experience as a director of Pizza Hut UK Ltd from 2018 to 2020. He is also the co-founder of Lenstore, an online contact lens business which in 2013 he sold to GrandVision BV, the world’s largest optical retail group at the time and owner of Vision Express. Following the sale, Domino’s Pizza Group said Patel remained with GrandVision in various roles, including as global ecommerce director, until 2023, gaining ‘substantial experience of working at a senior level in a franchise-based business’. Domino’s Pizza Group Chair Matt Shattock commented: ‘We are a business built on a network of highly entrepreneurial franchise partners, and, as a brilliant entrepreneur himself with significant expertise of working in franchise businesses, I am sure Mitesh will be a great addition to our board.’ Shares in Domino’s Pizza Group were down 0.1% to 340.30 pence each in London on Wednesday.
