Kooth launches youth-focused mental health services in Illinois

ALN

Kooth PLC on Tuesday launched its first US private sector service partnership with CVS Health Corp subsidiary Aetna Better Health of Illinois.

The London-based provider of digital mental health care has started to deliver its platform’s services to thousands of children and young people in Illinois’s Medicaid population as part of an initial one-year partnership with Aetna as announced in March.

Kooth will first focus on offering 11,000 people across three counties access to confidential and moderated content alongside community and professional support from licenced clinicians.

Last year alone, there were over 1.5 million children enrolled in Illinois’s Medicaid programme with research from the National Alliance for Mental Illness stating one in six people aged 6 to 17 experience a mental disorder each year.

Chief Executive Officer Tim Barker said: ‘We’re delighted to announce progress in our partnership with Aetna, our first private sector US partner, which means that thousands of children and young people in Illinois’s Medicaid population will be able to benefit from our platform.’

Kooth shares were up 1.9% to 317.00 pence each in London on Tuesday morning.
