IN BRIEF: JPMorgan Indian Investment underperforms rising benchmark

JPMorgan Indian Investment Trust PLC - London-based investor in India’s long-term growth companies - Says net asset value per share at September 30 financial year-end stands at 1,250.1 pence, a rise of 18% from 1,058.50p the year prior.

Total return on net assets is 18%, but this underperforms benchmark, MSCI India Index which shot up some 28%.

‘The attraction of investing in the Indian stock market lies in the ability of listed companies to convert the country’s exciting growth prospects into strong earnings growth. This positive outlook should translate into great opportunities for equity investors with a longer-term perspective,’ Chair Jeremy Whitley says.

Current share price: 1,057.92 pence each, up 0.6% on Friday morning in London

12-month change: up 17%
