Wheaton Precious Metals CFO Gary Brown announces departure

ALN

Wheaton Precious Metals Corp on Friday said that chief financial officer Gary Brown will step down from his role on March 31. Vincent Lau, currently vice president of Finance, will succeed Brown as part of a planned leadership transition.

The Vancouver-headquartered precious metals company said that Brown, who has been with Wheaton since 2008, played an ‘integral’ role in shaping the company’s financial strategy, risk management practices, and long-term success.

Chief Executive Officer Randy Smallwood said: ‘Gary’s strategic foresight, financial aptitude and disciplined approach to risk management have been essential in establishing Wheaton as a leader in its sector, and he has played a key role in driving Wheaton’s industry-leading performance.’

Outgoing Gary Brown said: ‘I have had the pleasure of building and mentoring a highly motivated and qualified finance team that I am incredibly proud of, and who are well-prepared to continue driving the company’s success under Vincent’s capable leadership.’

Vincent Lau, the incoming CFO, has served as vice president of Finance at Wheaton for 13 years. The company said he brings extensive experience in corporate finance and risk management. Lau holds both Chartered Professional Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst designations.

Shares in Wheaton were up 2.2% at 4,843.50 pence each in London on Friday morning. They closed 1.7% up at $57.81 in New York on Thursday.
