Capita renews deal to operate UK government’s gas safety website

ALN

Capita PLC on Wednesday said the Health & Safety Executive has reselected Capita to manage the UK’s gas safe register.

The London-based digital services consultant has run the UK government’s online list of qualified gas engineers since 2009. Capita will hold onto the contract, worth around £89 million, until December 2029.

The renewal was granted through ‘a competitive tender process’, the company said. As an existing framework contract, the deal has no transaction price.

It requires the firm to embed more efficient technology in the website, which is also responsible for promoting gas safety awareness among consumers.

Chief Executive Adolfo Hernandez noted: ‘This renewal is testament to the key role Capita plays as a strategic partner to government, using people, technology and processes to transform public sector services.

Capita shares were up 1.4% at 14.40 pence each on Wednesday morning in London.
