Spectra Systems Corp on Thursday said its security printing division has won a five-year contract to produce postage stamps for an unnamed postal stamp supplier in the European Union. The Rhode Island, US-based provider of technology for secure transactions, including banknote authentication, said the deal is expected to generate between $3.0 million and $4.0 million in total for its Cartor Security Printers arm. ‘The contract was awarded based on factors such as quality, environmental impact, price, and Cartor’s pioneering work in implementing hybrid stamp solutions with 2D barcode serialisation to significantly reduce losses resulting from counterfeiting and the reuse of stamps,’ said the firm. Shares in Spectra Systems were up 2.9% at 211.90 pence in London on Thursday morning.
