SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

JPMorgan Emerging Europe, Middle East & Africa Securities PLC, up 18% at 248.84 pence, 12-month range 65.60p-289.90p. The firm, which invests in the Middle East, Africa and ‘emerging Europe’, including Russia, surges on hope that a peace deal in Ukraine can come soon. US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone on Wednesday and agreed to begin negotiations to end the war in Ukraine ‘immediately’, AFP reported.

Trifast PLC, up 1.6% at 77.7 pence, 12-month range 66.20p-87.00p. The maker of industrial fastenings

says it is ‘seeing positive change and demonstrating operational and financial resilience’. It says its performance in the third-quarter to December 31 ‘underpins the board’s optimism’. It says expectations for full year performance remain unchanged.

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

EnQuest PLC, down 3.2% at 11.91p, 12-month range 9.95p-17.82p. The oil and gas company with operations in the UK and Malaysia returns some of Wednesday’s 4.6% advance.

‘We continue to deliver top-quartile production uptime across the portfolio and remain committed to maintaining discipline in our cost management and investment decisions,’ the company had said on Wednesday.
