IN BRIEF: Pearson starts first tranche of £350 million share buyback

Pearson PLC - London-based educational publisher - Starts first portion of its previously announced £350 million share buyback programme. The first tranche of the programme is worth £175 million and is expected to be completed on or before August 18. Morgan Stanley & Co International PLC will manage the first tranche. Pearson announced the buyback with its annual results at the end of last month. Numbers showed a rise in 2024 profit, despite a slight drop in sales. It intends to start a second tranche of £175 million later.

Current stock price: 1,263.50, up 0.2% in London on Tuesday morning
