Keysight delays expected completion of Spirent takeover to end of July

ALN

Keysight Technologies Inc on Tuesday said it expects its takeover of Spirent Communications PLC to take place by the end of July rather than the end of April.

Keysight said it ‘remains committed to working quickly and constructively’ with the US Department of Justice and the Chinese State Administration for Market Regulation to obtain clearance for the acquisition.

It expects the takeover to complete during the third quarter of Keysight’s current fiscal year, which ends on July 31.

‘The precise timing for closing of the acquisition remains subject to the date on which pending regulatory clearances are obtained,’ Keysight said.

Crawley, England-based test and assurance solutions provider Spirent agreed to the £1.16 billion takeover from the Santa Rosa, California-based manufacturer of electronics test and measurement equipment and software in March last year.

The takeover was approved by the UK competition regulator last month.

Spirent shares were down 0.3% to 188.00 pence in London on Tuesday morning, while Keysight was 0.8% higher at $151.00 in pre-market trading in New York.
