CORRECT: Softcat boosts data expertise with Oakland Group acquisition

ALN

(Correcting the timeframe for contingent payments to 3 years.)

Softcat PLC on Monday reported the acquisition of data and AI consultancy services firm, Oakland Group Services Ltd, as it looks to strengthen its support for customers throughout their data journey.

Softcat is a Buckinghamshire, England-based provider of IT infrastructure products and services.

It said the acquisition of Leeds, England-based Oakland Group Services adds data expertise to its portfolio and will provide ‘significant benefits’ to the combined entity’s customer base.

The deal will improve Softcat’s capabilities in customer support throughout all key areas of their rapidly evolving technology infrastructure, said the firm.

Softcat said it has paid £8 million in cash under the transaction, with contingent payments over the next 3 years tied to performance. It added that its prior financial guidance remains unaffected by the acquisition.

In last month’s half-year report, Softcat said it expects to deliver double-digit gross profit growth in financial 2025, with operating profit growth anticipated to be in the low double-digits.

Softcat noted that Oakland Group Services generated revenue of around £10 million in 2024, adding adding that it employs 70 people and is an existing partner to the firm.

It further noted that Oakland Group Services’ leadership team will join Softcat to initially run the business as a standalone operating business, working with Softcat’s sales team to ‘maximise the shared growth opportunity.’

Shares in Softcat were down 3.6% at 1,497.00 pence on Monday morning in London.

Softcat Chief Executive Graham Charlton commented: ‘Data is one of the biggest opportunities ahead of us as innovation in technology continues to shift rapidly towards a more automated and AI-driven world.

‘The acquisition of Oakland delivers an immediate, strategically important addition to our portfolio of services, and most importantly brings into the Softcat family a fantastic group of people who we know well and who align closely to our culture and values.’
