SulNOx granted patent covering further eight African countries

ALN

SulNOx Group PLC on Thursday said it has secured a patent covering a further eight countries in Africa from the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization.

The London-based green fuel technology developer said the patent covers Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The patent is further to SulNOx’s existing patent in South Africa, and covers a range of formulation versions including the Berol 6446 heavy sulphur fuel oils emulsifiers and SulNOx eco fuel conditioners.

SulNOx noted it has been operating ‘successfully’ in Ghana for more than three years, supplying the road transport sector. Sales volumes there ‘continue to gain momentum’, it said, ‘both with new customers and repeat orders, and the country has been a very effective springboard into the wider African market’.

SulNOx also holds a separate patent in Nigeria for fuel oil reclamation.

‘The ARIPO patent marks a step change in our strategy for the Africa, where we are working with a number of partners to deploy our products across a range of industries. Gaining wider protection for our innovation in some of Africa’s largest and most developed countries undoubtedly improves Sulnox’s prospects for revenue growth, particularly in the continent’s key sectors such as shipping, mining and road transport.’ said Chief Executive Officer Ben Richardson.

‘We look forward to announcing further progress in Africa and expansion of our patent portfolio as we target new sectors and markets worldwide.’

Shares in SulNOx last traded at 85.56 pence on the Aquis Exchange in London.
