SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: Warehouse REIT extends Blackstone deadline

ALN

The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Monday.

----------

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

----------

Baker Steel Resources Trust Ltd, flat at 52 pence, 12-month range 46p-59p. Says net asset value up 16% to 89.7 pence per share on December 31 from 77.2p at the same time one year prior. Notes that its share price rose 43% in 2024. The fund manager, which specialises in the natural resources, gold and precious metals sectors, adds that this is against the 13.5% fall for the MSCI Metals & Mining index although this ‘is not an ideal comparison given that the index is dominated by large cap mining groups, with typically heavy exposure to the so-called bulk commodities’. Says, however, that its shares were at a 37% discount to NAV at the end of 2024. ‘This is clearly disappointing, and it is no solace that similar scale discounts are to be found across the investment trust sector,’ Baker Steel comments.

----------

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

----------

Warehouse REIT PLC, down 0.3% at 107.7p, 12-month range 75p-109p. The warehousing-focused property investor, which confirmed a final indicative, non-binding proposal from Blackstone Europe LLP, has requested a further extension of the put up or shut up deadline to May 12. This follows the deadline’s previous extension to Monday evening. The deadline extension is to allow Blackstone additional time to complete due diligence work. Warehouse REIT notes that in March, it had indicated to Blackstone that it would be minded to recommend a firm offer to its shareholders, should one be made on the terms set out in the final indicative proposal.
