Ireland inflation rises to 2.0% in April; joblessness down at 4.1%

Consumer price inflation in Ireland accelerated in April, while unemployment eased, data published by the Central Statistics Office showed on Wednesday.

The harmonised consumer price index rose 2.0% in April from a year before, according to a CSO estimate, accelerating from a 1.8% annual increase in March.

On a monthly basis, harmonised CPI inflation was 0.4% in April, slowed from 0.7% in March.

Separately, the CSO said Ireland’s unemployment rate declined to 4.1% in April from 4.4% in March, though the March reading was revised up from the previously reported 4.0%.
