M&S says customers do not need to take any action after cyber incident

ALN

Marks & Spencer Group PLC on Tuesday said it has taken steps to protect its systems and has engaged cyber security experts, after a cyber incident last month.

The London-based retailer said that, while some of its customers’ personal customer data was taken, this didn’t include useable payment or card details and does not include any account passwords.

It said customers do not need to take any action.

‘For extra peace of mind, they will be prompted to reset their password the next time they visit or log onto their M&S account and we have shared information on how to stay safe online,’ M&S said.

The company said it has reported the incident to relevant government authorities and law enforcement, with whom it continues to work with.

M&S shares were up 1.0% at 349.70 pence each on Tuesday morning in London.
