BP announces first gas at Mento development off Trinidad and Tobago

ALN

BP PLC on Thursday said first gas has been delivered from the Mento project off the southeast coast of Trinidad.

The London-based oil and gas producer said Mento is an equally split joint venture between its subsidiary BP Trinidad & Tobago and EOG Resources Trinidad Ltd, which is the operator.

BP said production at Mento will make a ‘significant contribution’ towards the 250,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day combined peak net production expected from 10 major projects which will start up between 2025 and 2027.

It said the drilling campaign for the remaining seven wells on the Mento platform will now begin.

‘For bpTT, this represents our second start up this year and it is tangible proof of the benefits of partnering with others to bring much needed gas into production,’ said bpTT President David Campbell.

‘The bpTT/EOG partnership is progressing well as we continue to work on our next joint venture project Coconut.’

Shares in BP were up 0.8% at 361.25 pence in London on Thursday morning.
