Smith & Nephew hires Mckinsey alum Ajay Dhankar to executive board

ALN

Smith & Nephew PLC on Monday said it had hired Ajay Dhankar, ex-senior partner at Mckinsey & Co, to its executive board.

The Watford, Hertfordshire-based medical technology company has appointed Dhankar as chief corporate development & strategy officer, effective immediately.

During a 25-year tenure at New York-based consultancy McKinsey, Dhankar was global head of strategy for divisions such as Life Sciences R&D and M&A for Life Sciences, before becoming a senior partner and global head of strategy across all industries.

Back in February, Dhankar left McKinsey and stepped down as director of asset management and advisory firm Lazard Ltd. He remains a partner at Bluish Capital, an advisory firm founded by Dhankar, which focuses on companies with recent FDA product approvals.

Dhankar has a doctorate in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from/Yale University.

Smith & Nephew shares were marginally flat at 1,079.50 pence on Monday afternoon in London, for a market capitalisation of £9.46 billion.
