DP Poland hails strong performance despite ‘weak’ consumer sentiment

ALN

DP Poland PLC on Thursday said its ambition was to become the market leader in Poland while maintaining its ‘number one position’ in Croatia, as it reported higher sales.

The Manchester-based operator of Domino’s Pizza stores across Poland and Croatia said May and June were ‘strong’ in Poland, after a tricky April marred by ‘weak consumer sentiment’.

DP Poland said system sales in Poland rose 4.9% in the first half of the year, to 136.6zł million, around $37.7 million. In Croatia, system sales climbed 7.0% in the first half.

It was a ‘particularly positive result’ due to the prior year getting a boost from the Euros football tournament.

Chief Executive Officer Nils Gornall said: ‘We remain committed to our strategy of delivering quality pizza quickly, with a focus on value and customer innovation. Our ambition is clear: to become the market leader in Poland while maintaining our number one position in Croatia. We are pleased with the group’s sales performance and strategic progress in H1, and we look forward to an exciting second half of the year and beyond.’

DP Poland shares rose 1.4% to 10.39 pence each on Thursday afternoon in London.
