Premier African Minerals Ltd - developer of RHA tungsten and Zulu lithium projects in Zimbabwe - Reports extended running time without interruptions at its Zulu Lithium and Tantalum plant, noting consistent production at saleable grades in excess of 5% spodumene. Adds that test work conducted during operations has allowed the original equipment manufacturer to identify areas not yet fully optimised, as well as demonstrate the quality of the ore body at Zulu and ‘the amenability to spodumene concentrate recovery through floatation.’ Says the OEM will continue with the test programme to identify operational changes and to further examine options to optimise reagents. ‘Our knowledge of the plant and our understanding of the complexities of the process and the solutions will support the long-term success of this project. Particularly pleasing is the quality of the resource at Zulu, the fact that this is primarily a spodumene deposit without petalite and the amenability to recovery through floatation,’ says George Roach, chief executive of Premier African Minerals.
