Defence Holdings teams with Whitespace to develop AI for defence

ALN

Defence Holdings PLC on Tuesday said it has completed a strategic partnership with Whitespace Global Ltd, a deep-technology company which specialises in artificial intelligence infrastructure for defence.

The London-based defence technology platform said the agreement formalises the framework for the two companies to develop a portfolio of ‘defence-focused software applications and AI agents’ on Whitespace’s collective operating system platform.

It said the first builds for the UK Ministry of Defence and allied partners are underway.

Shares in Defence Holdings jumped 16% to 0.51 pence in London at midday on Monday.

Defence Holdings said details are part of an operationally classified programme but it represents a ‘commercially significant opportunity with long-term deployment potential’.

The firm said it will invest in initial AI capability builds, which will benefit from long-term commercial upside through a revenue share and structured cost recovery on deployment.

‘This partnership enables us to turn strategic intent into operational capability at unprecedented speed. We have the people, the platform, and the market access to deliver applications that matter and to do so at the pace and scale modern defence operations require,’ said Chief Technology Officer Andrew McCartney.

‘The pace at which our first programmes are progressing underlines the scale of the commercial opportunity ahead.’

Chair James Norwood said: ‘Concluding this agreement is a defining step for Defence Holdings. By integrating Whitespace’s operationally proven AI infrastructure into our platform, we are positioned to rapidly deliver sovereign software capabilities that meet the highest levels of trust, resilience, and mission-readiness.’
