Naguib Kheraj is one of the contenders to become the next chair of HSBC Holdings PLC, Sky News reported Saturday. He is one of just a few candidates currently being considered. Petershill Partners PLC, of which Kheraj is chair, is a London-based, FTSE 250-listed investment group operated by Goldman Sachs Asset Management and focused on private equity and other private capital strategies. Kheraj has spent several years on the board of Standard Chartered PLC, a FTSE 100-listed London-based, Asia and Africa-focused lender. Further, he held board roles at Barclays PLC for much of his 12 years working for the London-based bank, which is also on the FTSE 100. Back in June, HSBC confirmed that Chair Mark Tucker will step down at the end of September, having previously announced that he would leave by the end of this year. HSBC shares closed 0.7% lower at 948.80 pence each on Friday in London. In Hong Kong, shares closed 0.8% lower at HK$99.75. Petershill Partners shares closed flat at 238.00p each.
