Invinity Energy Systems PLC on Monday signed an agreement with supply chain services provider and real estate developer Xiamen C&D Corp Ltd for the expansion of manufacturing facilities in China. The London-based manufacturer of utility-grade energy storage systems said the non-binding memorandum of understanding targeted the construction of facilities for Invinity’s vanadium flow battery projects in Xiamen. In response, shares in Invinity Energy Systems were up 6.5% at 20.78 pence in London on Monday morning. The stock has risen 85% over the past year. Under the terms of the deal, C&D, alongside the Xiamen Municipal Government, will support the scale-up of manufacturing capabilities in the region. C&D are also potentially willing to offer working capital support and provide Invinity with access to its global supply chain platform. Invinity signed the MoU on behalf of an expanded proposed consortium of partners in the region. This is comprised of Hong Kong-based International Resources Ltd, the owner and operator of the Mapochs mine in South Africa, Invinity’s manufacturing partner Baojia New Energy, and Invinity’s strategic partner Guangxi United Energy Storage New Materials Technology Ltd. ‘With the signing of this MoU today in Xiamen, as part of the UK delegation at CIFIT, one of the most influential international investment events in the world attracting delegations from over 100 countries, we are signalling our intention to continue to seek and leverage partners and their relationships to further Invinity’s interests globally,’ said Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Marren. ‘This MoU, formalises our objective to further strengthen and expand our network of valued partners in Hong Kong and China across numerous areas. We look forward to further progressing our plans to scale up our manufacturing and supply chain operations in the region to meet growing global demand for our products.’ Invinity and C&D, along with the proposed consortium, will negotiate binding terms for the deal ‘over the coming months’.
