Likewise wins planning permission for South Wales facility expansion

ALN

Likewise Group PLC on Monday said it has been granted planning permission for the extension of its facility in Newport, South Wales.

The Birmingham, England-based floor coverings distributor currently owns the freehold of the current 35,000 square foot warehouse, and intends to extend the property by 20,000 square foot to create a 55,000 square foot distribution hub.

Likewise said the existing warehouse had not yet been ‘fully utilised’ for its intended construction process, but that the planning permission will now enable ‘a particularly cost effective addition’ to Likewise’s operational capability.

The enlarged facility is expected to be operational by the second quarter of 2026, which will allow increased cutting and processing capacity for the logistics networks of Likewise Floors and Valley Wholesale Carpets.

‘This is a very important development in enabling the group to exceed sales revenue well in excess of £200 million, with medium term aspirations to be significantly greater,’ said Chief Executive Officer Tony Brewer.

‘We look forward to increasing our employment in South Wales and developing the group for the benefit of all stakeholders.’

The investment and development will be funded through internal cash flow.

Shares in Likewise were up 6.1% at 26.00 pence in London on Monday afternoon. The stock has risen 41% over the past year.
