Ireland’s annual consumer price index inflation accelerated in August, data published by the Central Statistics Office showed Thursday. The country’s annual CPI inflation rate sped up to 2.0% in August from 1.7% in July. It was the highest level since 2.2% in April, and the first time since then that it reached 2% or above. The monthly inflation rate accelerated to 0.4% in August from 0.1% in July. The harmonised annual CPI inflation rate which allows for EU-wide comparison rose to 1.9% in August from 1.6% in July. Notably, it overshot preliminary data of a 1.8% rise in the harmonised annual CPI rate in August that the CSO had published on September 1. The monthly harmonised rate climbed to 0.4% in August from 0.2% in July, and was higher than the flash reading of 0.3%. Copyright 2025 Alliance News Ltd. All Rights Reserved.
