BAE Systems appoints outgoing National Grid CEO Pettigrew to board

ALN

BAE Systems PLC on Wednesday said it has appointed National Grid PLC Chief Executive Officer John Pettigrew to its board as non-executive director.

The London-based defence contractor said Pettigrew will join the board on February 23, 2026, and will join the audit and risk committee on the same date.

Pettigrew is set to step down from his position as CEO of London-based electricity and gas utility National Grid on November 16 after being appointed in 2016.

Pettigrew is also the senior independent director of Crawley, West Sussex pest control provider Rentokil Initial PLC.

‘I am delighted that John has agreed to join the board. He brings deep experience as a FTSE30 leader, and experience of complex project management and engineering in both the UK and the US,’ said BAE Systems Chair Cressida Hogg.

Also on Wednesday, BAE said Elizabeth Corley will step down from the board on November 30 after completing over nine years’ service.

Corley is chair of London-based financial services firm Schroders PLC.

‘I would like to thank Elizabeth for her contribution to the board for nearly a decade. We will all miss her intellect, insight, knowledge of the company and her personality on our board,’ said Chair Hogg.

Shares in BAE Systems were up 1.6% at 1,982.00 pence in London on Wednesday afternoon.
