IN BRIEF: Ruffer says gold miners shine in ‘groundhog day’ month

ALN

Ruffer Investment Co Ltd - London-based investment management company - Net asset value per share rises 2.0% to 303.83 pence at September 30 from 297.89 pence at August 31. Says the month had a ‘groundhog day feel’, describing September as ‘an amplified August.’ Says gold miners were standout performers ‘once again’, as they drove performance in a ‘bumper month for bullion’. Notes that the precious metal rose by around 12% in US dollar terms. Ruffer says it continued to take profits, including from China technology exposure, ‘which is enjoying the AI tailwind.’ Adds that derivative protections were the main drag on performance, ‘given the robust backdrop in stock markets.’

Current share price: 291.79 pence, down 1.1% on Thursday morning in London

12-month change: up 4.8%
