Eco Buildings confirms Chile housing deal is legally compliant

ALN

Eco Buildings Group PLC confirmed Friday its housing agreement in Chile is with a licensed social housing management organisation called EP Solhabit Ltda and is ‘fully consistent’ with Chilean legislation.

This clarification, ‘in response to recent investor enquiries and online commentary’, follows an Eco Buildings announcement on Tuesday that it had signed a seven-year agreement to manufacture and supply 20,000 homes under the Chilean government’s flagship social housing programme.

The London-based modular construction business said that all social housing projects in Chile are administered through licensed entities known as Entidades de Gestion Inmobiliaria Social, of which Solhabit is one.

Eco Buildings said EGIS entities are ‘officially accredited social housing management organisations that act as the primary interface between government programmes and private sector delivery partners’.

The company added ‘its collaboration with Solhabit is fully consistent with Chilean administrative procedures and housing legislation.’

Under the agreement, Solhabit designates the qualifying recipient families and oversees compliance with national housing policy requirements, while Eco Buildings manufactures and supplies the modular homes.

Shares in Eco Buildings fell 0.2% to 21.75 pence on Friday afternoon in London.
