Filtronic ‘in good position’ to meet expectations, touts GaN tech

ALN

Filtronic PLC on Thursday said it is in ‘a good position’ to meet market expectations in its financial 2026, as it touted an increased pipeline with opportunities in gallium nitride technology.

Shares in the Sedgefield, England-based maker of advanced micro electronics closed down 6.0% at 133.00 pence each Thursday in London.

Ahead of its annual general meeting, Filtronic said financial 2026 has seen continued progress as it continues to scale and capitalise on long-term growth opportunities.

The company celebrated further strengthening of its radio frequency and system engineering teams, which it says position it well to execute on its increased pipeline.

Filtronic said it is in ‘a good position’ to meet market expectations in 2025, despite headwinds from the US-GBP exchange rate. The firm cited a healthy sales pipeline, increased customer engagement and a robust order book.

In August, Filtronic announced a £47 million order from SpaceX for its next-generation proprietary gallium nitride E-band product.

The company said it plans to launch a range of products based on its very high frequency GaN technology in calendar year 2026.

The product is ‘designed to deliver world-leading power levels and performance and unlock space ground station opportunities that were previously unattainable with existing solid state power amplifier solutions,’ Filtronic explained.

In July, it signed a £13.4 million contract with a leading European defence prime. Filtronic said it continues to see improved momentum in the defence market and expects further growth in the sector.

‘The company has kept its focus on market relevant product and technology innovation, supported by a clear technology roadmap that ensures Filtronic remains at the leading edge of RF and [millimeter wave] innovation,’ Filtronic commented.

‘Over the longer term, customers are expressing a growing need for high-frequency, secure, and resilient communications infrastructure across many platforms which provide the group with supportive structural growth drivers across its key markets. We believe we have exciting products and capabilities to match this growing need,’ it added.

Filtronic will report results for the half-year to November 30 on February 3.
