New Frontier Minerals Ltd on Monday said it has finalised plans for its maiden reverse circulation drilling programme at the Harts Range heavy rare earths project in Australia’s Northern Territory, with approval to begin the campaign expected soon. Shares in the minerals exploration company were up 5.3% to 1.10 pence in London on Monday afternoon. New Frontier said recent correspondence from the Northern Territory mining regulator indicates that approval to commence drilling is imminent, with logistics and contractor planning ‘progressing well.’ The upcoming campaign will focus on defining the extent of heavy rare earth mineralisation, particularly dysprosium and terbium, which are key components in high-performance magnets used in electric vehicles and renewable energy technologies. Chair Gerrard Hall said the completion of target selection marks a significant milestone for the company: ‘Finalising the drill targets for the upcoming campaign at the Harts Range Project marks another important milestone for NFM. The board considers the delineation of these targets within only 12 months to be a significant achievement within what it believes is a highly compelling heavy rare earth system.’ The Harts Range project is one of New Frontier’s flagship assets, located in a mineral-rich region of Australia that is increasingly recognised for its critical minerals potential.
