Aterian commences work at Sua Pan lithium project

ALN

Aterian PLC on Wednesday said it has begun a groundwater reconnaissance and brine sampling programme at its Sua Pan lithium project in Botswana.

The London-based mining company, which focuses on African critical minerals, said the work will establish baseline hydrogeochemical data, including lithium concentrations.

The work will be completed by Aqualogic Pty Ltd, a Botswana-based hydrogeology and geochemical consultancy, and is being undertaken through Aterian’s 90% owned subsidiary, Atlantis Metals Pty Ltd.

Aterian said up to six existing brine wells will be sampled alongside shallow near-surface sampling points for laboratory analysis, before areas are identified for follow-up exploration.

The company said it anticipates the programme to be completed over the coming weeks, followed by laboratory results and interpretation.

Chair Charles Bray said: ‘The commencement of this programme marks a meaningful step forward in advancing our exploration strategy in Botswana. The Sua Pan project sits within a region known to host laterally extensive brine systems, and establishing the presence and distribution of lithium and other minerals within our licence areas is central to evaluating its strategic potential.

‘Aterian is building a portfolio focused on critical minerals required for the energy transition, and this work forms part of that broader growth pathway. We look forward to reviewing the results and updating shareholders as the programme progresses.’

Shares in Aterian traded flat at 30.00 pence on Wednesday afternoon in London.
