Irish producer prices remained lower than a year earlier in October, despite a modest monthly rise, according to figures from the Central Statistics Office on Friday. The CSO said the overall producer price index for manufacturing industries increased by 0.7% between September and October, but remained 3.5% lower than in October 2024. Producer prices for goods sold on the domestic market were 1.2% higher year-on-year, while export producer prices were down 4.0%, continuing the contrast between home and overseas pricing trends. Wholesale electricity prices rose sharply in the month, increasing 6.6% from September, but remained 18.5% lower than a year earlier. Electricity prices are now down 74% from their August 2022 peak. Food producer prices were 0.3% higher month-on-month and 4.1% higher than October 2024. Across the wider manufacturing sector, chemical product prices climbed 31% annually, while beverage prices declined 4.0%. Construction-related wholesale prices were largely stable. The all-materials index for construction products edged down 0.1% in October but was 0.9% higher year-on-year.
