Wizz Air Holdings PLC - Budapest-based budget airline - Chief Financial Officer Ian Malin to become chief commercial officer, effective February 1. ‘Placing the commercial team under the direction of a proven leader will support Wizz Air’s delivery of profitable capacity growth,’ Wizz Air says. Veronika Spanarova will succeed Malin as chief financial officer, ‘following a 30-year international career at Citi having worked in corporate and retail banking across a number of countries including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Brazil and Hungary where she has been Citi’s Managing Director, country manager and Wizz Air’s banker’. Also, Senior Chief Commercial & Operations Officer Michael Delehant’s role is being renamed to group managing director, ‘with no change to scope and responsibilities’. Chief Executive Officer Jozsef Varadi says: ‘These organisational enhancements will elevate Wizz Air’s leadership capacity and commercial function for our ever-growing scale. Ian has made an exceptional contribution to Wizz Air since joining as CFO three years ago, demonstrating his tenacity and knowledge of the company and sector.
